FoxGLove - How to Download and Install the FoxGLove App on Your iOS Device
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) is a biennial perennial flowering plant with tall, elegant flowers. A native of Europe, this showy plant is a popular garden ornamental that also has medical uses. It contains cardiac glycosides, including digitoxin, which can be used to treat heart problems.
The leafy stems rise from a basal rosette the first year and then produce a tall, one-sided cluster of finger-shaped blooms. These flowers come in yellows, pinks, whites, and purples, with darker spots inside the drooping petals. The lower parts of the plants bear alternating, oblong to egg-shaped leaves. The genus is a large and varied one, with about 20 species native to western Europe. The New York Botanical Garden has many different species of this plant, all in full bloom in June.
